Our field partners

Together to Save Coral Reefs

At The Coral Planters, our mission to preserve and restore coral reefs relies on strong partnerships with local and international stakeholders. Our field partners play a crucial role by providing their expertise, resources, and commitment to protecting fragile marine ecosystems. Together, we form a chain of collaboration dedicated to safeguarding ocean biodiversity.

Reefscapers

Reefscapers, an expert and world leader in coral restoration for over 20 years, is our exclusive and preferred partner for coral reef construction. The structures are built by local communities on Fulhadhoo Island in the Maldives. Our marine biologists meticulously plant the corals on them. Each newly created reef will be regularly monitored to track its growth and health throughout its life.

Bluer ocean project

Bluer Ocean Project is our service provider partner for the development of coral restoration projects on the island of Rodrigues in the southern Indian Ocean. We work together scientifically and technically to protect, conserve, preserve, and restore coral reefs around Rodrigues Island.

Mulala Marine Sanctuary

Mulala Marine Sanctuary is our partner for the development of coral restoration projects in Mozambique, within a marine protected area (MPA). We work together scientifically and technically to protect, conserve, preserve, and restore coral reefs.

Why are field partnerships essential?

Coral reefs are the lungs of our oceans and home to thousands of marine species. Yet, they face increasing threats, such as climate change, pollution, and overexploitation of resources. To address these challenges, it is essential to take direct action on the ground. This is where our field partners come in:

  • Local proximity: They understand the ecological, cultural, and social characteristics of the areas in which we operate.
  • Logistical support: They help us deploy our coral nurseries, organize replanting sessions, and monitor restored reefs.
  • Community outreach: They mobilize local communities, fostering lasting awareness and active involvement.
