In addition to being able to choose the coral of your choice, you’ll have the option to personalize the adoption certificate by adding the name of the person you’re giving and writing a dedication!
And for the most daring among you… Give a heart-shaped reef!
The agony of corals
They are the most precious marine ecosystem for humans and the oceans, yet for several years, corals have been in danger. Climate change threatens these strange and magnificent animals.
Beyond the beauty of the underwater landscapes they create, coral reefs play a crucial role in the balance of the oceans, the preservation of coastlines, and the global economy.
🐠 Although representing only 0.1% of the ocean surface, coral reefs alone are home to 25% of all marine biodiversity.
💰 The economic importance of corals is very significant. According to a 2007 study by Edwards & Gomez, corals represent a global windfall of more than $375 billion per year.
Coral reefs also play a protective role in the coastline. Capable of absorbing 97% of wave energy, they offer unparalleled natural protection to local populations during extreme events (cyclones, storms, submersion phenomena, etc.).
Yet, for several years now, scientists and NGOs have been sounding the alarm: corals are bleaching! Since 2009, 20% of corals, or nearly 11,700 km2, have succumbed to bleaching episodes caused by climate change. According to IPCC reports, it is estimated that a warming of 1.5°C could lead to the disappearance of 70% to 90% of corals.

Faced with the urgent need to address the deteriorating health of corals worldwide, The Coral Planters‘ mission is to restore coral reefs.
Giving a coral gift is a gift to your loved ones and to the ocean! 💙
